Software Publishers

Software Publishers are vendor or publisher names used by software products and inventory matching.

Open Software > Publishers.

Use publishers to keep product ownership and inventory matching consistent across software products.

Sources

Publishers can come from:

  • manual curation
  • endpoint software inventory

Manual publishers can be edited and deleted by users with package management permissions. Inventory publishers are shown for visibility and matching, but they are managed from reported inventory.

Table

The publishers table shows:

  • publisher name
  • source
  • linked product count
  • aliases
  • available actions

Use search to find publishers by name or alias. Use the source filter to focus on manual or inventory publishers. Enable Hide publishers without products when cleaning up the list or reviewing actively used publishers.

Aliases

Aliases are alternative publisher names that should be treated as the same vendor for product ownership and matching.

Use aliases when inventory or installer metadata reports the same publisher with inconsistent spelling, legal suffixes, or product-line branding.

Manual Publisher Management

Users with package creation permission can create manual publishers.

Users with package update permission can edit manual publishers.

Users with package delete permission can delete manual publishers after confirming the action.
